About Erin Barth Erin Barth knew she wanted a profession in nursing from a young age. “I grew up watching my mom as a nurse and I knew I wanted to be a nurse as well. I would say I knew for sure I would later want to become a nurse practitioner when I was in high school,” she says. Now, as an Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner, she strives to provide the best care she can to each and every patient. Erin earned her Master of Science in Nursing at Georgetown University (Washington, D.C.) and has professional and clinical experience that includes working as an RN/Charge Nurse in ICU at Memorial Hospital of South Bend, where she says she “grew up as a nurse.” In addition, her clinical practice took place at Ball Memorial Hospital (Muncie), Riley Hospital for Children (Indianapolis), University Hospital (Indianapolis) and Bronson Battle Creek Hospital (Battle Creek, MI). When she sees patients, whether in the hospital or office, she collaborates with physicians to determine different treatment options. Together, with patients, she determines the best plan of care for them. “My patients have taught me to always listen to them because they know their bodies best,” she says, adding that she always provides an explanation as to why we she is doing something. “I hope they have learned I am a caring and competent provider who will always work with them and listen to them.” In her own words… Who is or was the most influential people/role models in your life?  My mom What was your first job growing up?
