About
History in the county was alive in the heart of a key community leader. William A. Ross, Jr. developed a passion for local history and shared it with anyone who would stop to listen. He researched the history of Shelby County newspapers and countless other institutions. His work with sculptor Robert Koepknik resulted in aluminum sculptures adorning US Bank, Wilson Memorial Hospital, Ross Aluminum and other buildings. He (anonymously at the time) paid for the construction of the covered bridge in Tawawa Park. His death in 1990 was a great loss for all Shelby Countians.
