About Us :
The Blue Water Folk Society is a group dedicated to promoting and sponsoring traditional and acoustic music events in the Blue Water area of Michigan. This basically covers the area along Lake Huron from Port Huron to Port Sanilac. This is done entirely by volunteers dedicated to the music and sharing it. We are a 501c Non-Profit organization.
We sponsor a 1960's style "Coffeehouse" the second Saturday of every month from October thru March in Lexington. We also sponsor various music events in Michigan's "Thumb Area" throughout the year.
Our main event is a festival each year on Labor Day weekend called "Thumbfest". It features multiple stages, a Dance Hall, Jam Sites, Workshops, Crafts and more. It takes place on the shores of Lake Huron in downtown Lexington. It is a "free" event put on by volunteers, donations from the community, numerous fundraisers and the talents of many generous musicians. We know of no other festival like it in that, for a weekend, an entire town is transformed into a music festival with activities all around and, it is paid for by numerous volunteers and generous people with a love of music.
