Our Mission:

The Springfield Ballet Company provides dance education and performances to enrich our community through the beauty, energy and diversity of dance.

History

The Springfield Ballet Company was created in 1975 by the merger of two local dance companies. Today the Company consists of 30 young adult company dancers and 26 middle school trainees; a community-based, volunteer Board of Directors; and a staff of an Artistic Director, Business Manager and Ballet Mistress.

The Company’s diversity is evident in its repertory programs that reach an audience of 12,000 annually and feature classical ballet, contemporary ballet, jazz, modern, tap, theatre, and character, with three major performances each season. As a civic ballet company, the SBC provides several Community Outreach programs each year for diverse audiences in the community.

Each season, the Company strives to expand performance opportunities for its dancers, enabling them to utilize their training and further develop their performance experience.

In acknowledgement of their dedication, the Company provides its dancers with a two-week intensive summer workshop, two Company classes per week, master classes throughout the year plus dance shoes, ribbons and elastic for productions.
