Rocklin Community Theatre is a new entity in Placer County, but it comes from a long theatrical tradition. The City of Rocklin offered a Theatre Arts program for 17 years. The recent economic downturn prevented the City from funding the program. Rocklin Community Theatre (RCT) was formed by a group of local residents to carry on this popular theatre tradition.
RCT is a 501(c)(3) non-profit theatre company. Its mission is to provide musical theatre training for children, teens, and adults in the community. This is accomplished through specialized workshops for specific skills, such as dance, and production workshops that culminate with the performance of a Broadway-style show. Cast members develop their performance skills, make new friends, and build self-confidence. Placer County residents are able to see a reasonably-priced production of a Broadway-style show using local talent.
RCT supports the performing arts in our schools by loaning items such as sound equipment, costumes, and set pieces and by providing trained volunteers. This support enhances the school's program without tapping education budgets needed to provide core curriculum.
