A CURE FOR THE WINTER DOLDRUMS, our January concert showcases Vivaldi's only double concerto for trumpet, a bright and fantastic fanfare; Beethoven's  "Pastoral" Symphony, a sentimental romp through the Viennese countryside; and Mendelssohn's recently discovered second version of his "Italian" Symphony. This rarely heard 1834 version will be presented with demonstrations of some of the changes from the traditional version.  The concert will feature Pro Arte trumpeter Dana Russian and guest Greg Whitaker, all led by Pro Arte's own dynamic principal conductor Kevin Rhodes.
