History
MPC has a long, rich history in Long Hill Township.
A small group of German-speaking Christians in the Meyersville area began gathering for worship in the Long Hill School House on November 1, 1846. Frederick Besel was installed as the congregation's first pastor. In 1848, a church building was erected on our present site, donated by Casper Meyer.
The German Evangelical Church of Long Hill, as the church was named, continued to grow. In 1897, a new and larger church was built for a cost of $2,494 (a large sum of money at the time!). This building is our current sanctuary. German remained the language of the Sunday morning worship service for many years, and there were many pastors who served this congreation.
By 1945, all services were in English. By 1955, the sanctuary had been raised to provide space for fellowship hall and two additions. A new manse had also been built.
We are proud of our tradition and history as we move into the 21st century!
