Maude H. Trefethen School
About us:
The Maude H. Trefethen School houses 61 students in Kindergarten through grade 6. Students in grades 7 and 8 attend the Rye Junior High School; students, grades 9 - 12, attend Portsmouth High School.
The students are organized in multi-grade classes K - 6, and the small student enrollment allows the curriculum to be individualized according to each child's abilities. In addition to a comprehensive educational pro-gram, which includes the basic disciplines, there are classes in art, music, physical education, French, Spanish, and technology. Enrichment is an ongoing program within the school.
The building is administered by a principal who teaches part-time and has the services of a part-time secretary. There are 10 full-time and part-time teachers and four support staff.
