Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral of New England

514 Parker Street
617-731-6633

We welcome you to the Annunciation Cathedral of New England, the seat, church of the Metropolis of Boston, led by His Eminence Metropolitan Methodios of Boston.  We are a community rich in faith and history.  From the late 1890’s the parish has dedicated its efforts to serve her faithful through worship, fellowship, outreach, education, and cultural enrichment.  We continue the vision of the Cathedral parish founders today through the liturgical, music, outreach, educational, and youth ministries of the parish.

Our faith in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ binds us together.  Through the grace of the Holy Spirit our community calls all to the living expression of God’s life-saving mercy, compassion, and love.  The Orthodox Church finds its beginnings in the faith of the Apostles who received the ‘out-pouring’ of the Holy Spirit on the Feast of Pentecost signaling the mission of the Church to all the world.

The Annunciation Cathedral is an Orthodox faith community because we follow in the tradition of prayer and worship of the ‘One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church’; a community that gathers and welcomes the ‘grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God the Father, and the communion of the Holy Spirit.’  We continue today with an historical connection to the Apostolic Church.  Through the ordination of the Orthodox clergy serving the parishes today we hold a direct lineage of ordination to the Apostles, the disciples of Jesus Christ, who were called to ‘proclaim the message of the risen Lord to all nations.’  Our parish and her faithful continue in that same calling today.

The history of the parish tells of the struggles and hard work of the faithful to gather for worship and education of language, culture, and faith.  The clergy who have led the community in the past showed innovation and wisdom which brought faithful of the parish together.  While we are honored with our history, we look today to create a new history, a new legacy for our faithful.  Located among the campuses of several universities we find ourselves the welcomed refuge for the students through the Cathedral Campus Ministry.  Understanding the needs of our neighbors leads us to reach out and help others through our community outreach ministries and the Philoptochos.  Knowing that we cannot rely upon the laurels of the past we look to encourage faithful of all ages to experience their faith in worship and action.

Again, welcome to the Annunciation Cathedral, at least through the website.  If you are in the Boston area, come and worship with us and allow us to welcome you our Cathedral family and our home.

We hope our website gives you a good sense of who we are as Orthodox Christians and what we believe about God and His Church.

We are also apostolic because we believe our calling is to go out and share our faith with others. For this reason, we welcome you to visit the Orthodox Christian parish in your neighborhood or town.

Although our parishes may carry a designation of Greek Orthodox or Russian Orthodox or some other ethnic identity, this does not imply that you need to be of a certain ethnic origin to join us in worship or to consider becoming an Orthodox Christian.
