Liberty Mutual and Safeco Insurance have awarded Mendoza Insurance Services LLC a 2023 Make More Happen Award for its volunteerism with Women's Service League of North Central Washington (WSL), a nonprofit organization who is dedicated to building a community through the empowerment of women and deliberate volunteer action. The award includes an initial donation of $5,000 for WSL, which can be doubled to $10,000 just by having community supporters vote online. 

The Mendoza Insurance Services and WSL community story has been highlighted on the official Make More Happen microsite at www.agentgiving.com/Mendoza-Insurance-Services, where supporters can vote to help the team reach their donation goal. If the featured story receives a mix of at least 500 votes and comments, the $5,000 donation will be raised to $10,000.

The donation will help fund the increased cost of rental units for supplies, advertising and storefront including the storage space for WSL’s My Girlfriends Closet (MGC) initiative. MGC is a three-day shopping event that sells new and gently used women’s clothing, shoes, jewelry, and purses at low prices. Majority of the proceeds are distributed back into the community including scholarship funds for women returning to college.

As a committed advocate of the WSL since 2014, Mendoza has been involved in several committees within the nonprofit, while serving as a board member and chairperson for their Diaper Drive. The agency supports the nonprofit’s year-round events from collecting items for MGC and Prom Dress Giveaway, to crafting Thanksgivings baskets for families in need and volunteering at Touch a Truck that raises funds for kids to participate in local resource programs. Additionally, they collect life essentials to donate to homeless shelters and serve warm meals monthly.

Throughout 2023, Liberty Mutual and Safeco Insurance will select up to 37 independent agents nationwide for a Make More Happen Award donating up to $370,000 to the nonprofits they support. Agencies became eligible for the award by submitting an application and photos demonstrating their commitment to a specific nonprofit.
