From: Town Of HubbardstonRyan Couture has been appointed the next Chief of Police for the Town of Hubbardston, Massachusetts starting March 1, 2023. Couture has been with the Hubbardston Police Department for twenty years and has served as Interim Police Chief for six months. Before this, he served as a Sergeant for eight years and as a Detective, Patrol Officer, and Dispatcher for twelve years.
Couture has a degree in criminal justice and has completed FBI LEEDA training, in addition to numerous other criminal justice credentials, licenses, and department certifications.
"I am pleased that we were able to promote a qualified candidate from inside our own Police Department. Ryan has served the Town of Hubbardston with the utmost integrity for 20 years, and I look forward to seeing where the department goes with him at the helm," said Jeff Williams, Hubbardston Select Board Chair.
"The past several years have been hard in the field of public safety and policing, even in rural municipalities, and Ryan has shown determination in his community spirit and dedication to the department," stated Town Administrator Nathan Boudreau. "He possesses the skills and professionalism to uphold the Hubbardston Police Department's proud history," said Boudreau
"Ryan is one of the most honest, sincere, and caring people you could have placed in that position, which is incredibly important in this day and age. He has the integrity and police ability to lead the department for a long time." Said former Police Chief Dennis Perron, who led the department for over 16 years.
Couture stated, "It is an honor and a pleasure to be named the next Chief of Police for the Town of Hubbardston. I want to thank the Select Board for their trust and support in me for this position. I am grateful for the opportunity to continue my career in Hubbardston and build on my over twenty years of service."
A ceremonial swearing-in will be held on March 20, 2023, at 6:00 PM in the Hubbardston Senior Center.
