Hyderabad, India – Lieutenant Governor Tahesha Way, the New Jersey-India Commission, and the New Jersey delegation continued the inaugural economic mission on Wednesday and Thursday in Hyderabad, the capital of Telangana, another one of India’s major technology hubs. The day’s events strengthened existing partnerships in support of New Jersey and India’s academic institutions and entrepreneurs in the life science and technology industries, with a focus on startups.

Lieutenant Governor Tahesha Way Delivers Remarks, Signs Memorandum of Understanding between New Jersey Innovation Institute and T-Hub Foundation

Lieutenant Governor Tahesha Way and the New Jersey-India Commission attended the signing of a renewed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between T-Hub, India’s leading startup incubator, and the New Jersey Innovation Institute (NJII), a nonprofit subsidiary of the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT). The Honorable Minister of Information, Technology, Electronics, and Communications, Industry and Commerce for the Government of Telangana, Shri Dduddilla Sridhar Babu was also present for the signing of the MOU. “These two institutions, the New Jersey Innovation Institute and the T-Hub Foundation, work to uplift innovators. By working together, we are not only advancing innovation but also deepening the cultural and economic bonds between New Jersey and India,” said Lieutenant Governor Way. After delivering remarks, Lieutenant Governor Way signed the renewed MOU, which aims to continue partnerships in innovation, startups, and technological growth between New Jersey and Hyderabad, further enhancing the ecosystem for entrepreneurial ventures.

Choose New Jersey attended the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, and Tamil Nadu Technology (iTNT) Hub, an organization connecting deep-technology sectors of artificial intelligence, robotics, quantum computing, and advanced materials. The delegation attended a presentation hosted by the United Way of Hyderabad, showcasing the organization’s impactful initiatives in the region. During the visit, Ms. Kiran Handa-Gaudioso, CEO of United Way of New Jersey and a member of the New Jersey-India Commission addressed the group and several startups to reinforce the shared commitment to creating meaningful change.

Building on an existing partnership, Lieutenant Governor Tahesha Way and the New Jersey delegation met with Indian technology industry leaders at a networking dinner held by the National Association of Software and Service Companies (NASSCOM). NASSCOM is a mission-driven association that works alongside industry, government, and academia to establish India as the most reliable ecosystem for top-notch products, services, digital talent, and impactful solutions. The event allowed the attendees to discuss business expansion partnership opportunities in New Jersey. Lieutenant Governor Way participated in a fireside chat, moderated by NASSCOM President Rajesh Nambiar and Vice President and Head of Global Trade Shivendra Singh. Tarun Gupta, Director of the New Jersey India Center, also presented information about New Jersey’s technology landscape, innovation ecosystem, and market opportunities, while existing investors shared their success stories.

Lieutenant Governor Tahesha Way Visits Saint Francis College for Women (SFCW) Campus and Delivers Town Hall Address

Lieutenant Governor Tahesha Way and the New Jersey-India Commission visited Saint Francis College for Women, a distinguished autonomous institution affiliated with Osmania University that is dedicated to advancing women’s education. During the visit, the delegation enjoyed an engaging program performed by the students and participated in a thoughtful dialogue. Lieutenant Governor Way also addressed over 300 female students during an inspiring Town Hall meeting.
