Governor Ron DeSantis Appoints Two to the Florida International University Board of Trustees

TALLAHASSEE, FL - On December 19, 2024, Governor Ron DeSantis announced the appointment of George Heisel and the reappointment of Carlos Duart to the Florida International University Board of Trustees. These appointments are effective January 7, 2025.

George Heisel
Heisel is the Shareholder of ExpoCredit. Active in his community, he previously served as a member of the Young Presidents’ Organization’s Miami Chapter Board of Directors and the Mount Sinai Hospital Medical Center Foundation Board. Heisel earned his bachelor’s degree in marketing from Babson College. 

Carlos Duart
Duart is the Chief Executive Officer of CDR Companies, Inc. Active in his community, he currently serves as a member of the Florida International University College of Engineering Dean’s Advisory Board and the Florida International University Transportation Center’s Steering Committee. Duart earned his bachelor’s degree in accounting and his master’s degree in taxation from Florida International University. 

These appointments are subject to confirmation by the Florida Senate.
