Glendale, Ariz. – Glendale Mayor Jerry Weiers invites the public to join him at the Annual Veterans Day Ceremony on Saturday, November 11, at 8:45 a.m. sharp at the Glendale Main Library, 5959 W. Brown St. Attendees are encouraged to come early.
Dignitary attendees will include Mayor Weiers, active-duty military members, and elected officials. Local veteran organizations are invited to attend. The flag raising will be performed by the Marine Corps League’s Old Breed Detachment No. 767. A fly over by F-35s out of Luke Airforce Base is scheduled for approximately 9:00 a.m.
“It is vital that we recognize the sacrifices our Veterans have made so we are able to celebrate our freedoms,” stated Mayor Weiers.
The ceremony will be held outside on the lawn of the library, adjacent to the Veterans Memorial, and include a flag raising of the U.S., Arizona state, and POW/MIA flags.
Attendees are asked to bring their unserviceable U.S. Flags to the event, so they can be properly retired. Veterans IV Veterans will be collecting the flags, then retiring them later. For those who are not able to stay for the ceremony, flags may be dropped off between 8:00 and 9:00 a.m. on the north side of the library in the book drop drive thru.
