MADISON, Wis. — New reporting from the Washington Post today further confirmed what we already knew: that Elon Musk is attempting to buy Brad Schimel a seat on the Wisconsin Supreme Court so Schimel can be a “support network” for Musk and Donald Trump.
According to the Washington Post, “the Wisconsin Supreme Court race was not initially on the PAC’s radar, but Musk’s team was ultimately drawn to the idea of flipping control of the court.” The reality that Musk’s company Tesla is suing the state of Wisconsin over a state car dealership law—a case likely to reach the state Supreme Court—only adds greater incentive for Musk to try to tip the scales for Brad Schimel.
There’s no doubt that Donald Trump superfan and extreme politician Brad Schimel would work for Musk and Trump on the Wisconsin Supreme Court. Just this month, Schimel vowed to be a “support network” for Trump on the bench. Schimel has also attacked the Wisconsin Supreme Court for not throwing out legal votes and overturning the 2020 for Trump, claiming the Court “screwed him over.”
“Brad Schimel is not running for Wisconsin Supreme Court to serve Wisconsin—he’s running to be a ‘support network’ for Donald Trump and Elon Musk,” said Democratic Party of Wisconsin Deputy Communications Director Haley McCoy. “Elon Musk knows Brad Schimel will be a rubber stamp for Donald Trump on the state Supreme Court and that’s why he’s spending millions to buy a seat for Brad Schimel. On April 1, Wisconsinites will make it clear that our highest court can’t be bought when they reject Brad Schimel and his billionaire sponsor.”
