The City of Portland has postponed the implementation of the new solid waste service model due to the recent freeze. For the January 2023 bulk household waste pick-up, Republic Services will pick-up brush and yard waste, as well.

The City of Portland's new Solid Waste Service model begins Sunday, January 1, 2023.However, because of the recent freeze, the City of Portland will delay enforcement of the new requirements.

For the January 2023 bulk household waste pick-up, Republic Services will also pick-up brush and yard waste.

Residents are asked to place all
  - bulk household waste,
  - Christmas trees,
  - brush & yard waste
in a single pile near the curb for the upcoming pick-up next week.

Set-Out Timeframe
Residents may begin setting waste out on Saturday, December 31, at noon.
All waste must be set out by 7:00 a.m. Monday, January 2.
NOTE: Waste not placed by this time may not be collected.

Set-Out Requirements
Household hazardous waste (i.e. motor oils, pool chemicals, tires, etc.) are not permitted. If these items are set out, the pile will not be serviced.

Additionally, all brush and branches must not exceed 6 feet in length or 6 inches in diameter (cut large pieces to fit these parameters). Leaves and other small yard waste items may be placed in your trash carts. To set small yard waste items on the curb, the items must be in clear bags.
