The Pensacola Fire Department is proud to be an ISO Class 1 rated fire department, an achievement earned by less than 1% of the 40,000 fire departments in the United States. An ISO 1 rating is the highest score in a 1-10 range, and it reflects how prepared a community or area is for fires.
PFD also offers a variety of training opportunities and state-of-the-art training equipment, including the only maritime live fire training in the region. PFD's Maritime Fire Training Simulator is designed to teach boat fire suppression techniques, and it can also be used for rope training, ladder training and structural fire suppression.

Professional Firefighters with the Pensacola Fire Department are offered the following benefits:
-Starting pay: $35,880 (educational incentive pay available plus $1,500/year EMT pay)
-Competitive benefits: 24 hours on/48 hours off, 38 hours per month leave accrual, 25 year 75% pension, health benefit plans, tuition reimbursement, paid holidays

-High school diploma or equivalent
