After Storm Updates

City Office Hours

City Hall and all other City offices are back open and have resumed regular business hours starting today, Friday, September 30, 2022.

Sanitation Schedule

While the Orange County landfill is closed, we cannot pick up trash. The City of Apopka will resume normal garbage pick-up on Monday, October 3, 2022.

Debris Site Open

We have opened up a debris site drop-off location for anyone looking to dispose of their vegetation debris. The site is located at the Northwest Recreation Complex. Please access this site via Appy Lane. The hours of operation are 7 AM to 7 PM starting today, Friday, September 30, 2022. We will continue to operate this site until it is no longer needed.

Please Note: Only vegetation debris will be accepted at this location.  No construction debris (fences, lumber, etc.) or trash will be accepted.

City Activities & Events at the Amphitheater

- The Saturday Sounds Concert scheduled for Saturday, October 1, 2022 with Ultimate Garth will go on as planned at the Apopka Amphitheater. Please visit our events page to learn more.

- All athletic programs (i.e. Little League, soccer, etc.) scheduled at the Northwest Recreation Complex have been cancelled for Saturday, October 1, 2022 and Sunday, October 2, 2022.

Hurricane-Related Damage and Issues

- Pipe Collapse: A pipe collapsed near the intersection of Grossenbacher Drive and Lake Avenue. This was a pipe break not a sinkhole. City crews are working to fix the pipe.

- Traffic Light Outages: The majority of the City-maintained traffic lights are back up and running.  However, if you see a traffic light out, please report it to our non-emergency line at 407-703-1757.  In the meantime, if a traffic light is out, please treat the intersection as a four-way stop.

Thank you for your patience, as our crews work diligently to return City operations to normal. Continue to visit our Hurricane Preparedness page for resources, updates, safety tips, and additional City information.

Survey Now Open: Share Your Opinions on Rock Springs Road & West Orange Trail Extension Recommendations

Here’s your final chance to share your opinions on recommendations for the future of the Rock Springs Road area and extensions to the West Orange Trail.

Take the survey by October 20, 2022 at bit.ly/RSRWOTSurvey3 (please note: this URL is case sensitive).

On Sept. 22, a hybrid public meeting was held to unveil the recommendations for:

- Rock Springs Road & Welch Road intersection
- Rock Springs Road from Welch Road to Lester Road
- Sandpiper Street & Park Avenue
- Extensions to the West Orange Trail along Rock Springs Road, Welch Road, and Ponkan Road.

About 100 people participated in person and virtually to learn about the recommendations and ask questions of the study team during the live meeting.

WHAT’S NEXT?

If you missed the meeting, you can view the videos of recommendations, as well as the full meeting recording on the MetroPlan Orlando YouTube channel. The links are all included on the study page: MetroPlanOrlando.org/RockSprings. All meeting materials, including the presentation and display boards, are also available on the study page.

After reviewing the information, please take the survey by Thursday, October 20, 2022.
We’re nearing the completion of the Rock Springs Road and West Orange Trail Extension Studies. The study began in spring of 2021 and will conclude at the end of 2022.

Once all public comments and feedback are in from the final community survey, the study team will consult with our partners at the City of Apopka and Orange County to refine the recommendations. Then the final report will be issued and the study will be complete.
