The Christmas decorating contest returns with awards for “Best Overall Business” and “Best Overall Residence.” To vote, call the Chamber at 760-767-5555, or send an email to [email protected], with the address or company name. One vote per person, you can vote for one or both. The deadline to vote is December 22 at 5 pm Winners will be posted on the Chamber's Facebook page.

Due to recent events at the Friday Farmers Market, the following changes will be implemented beginning Friday, December 8th and continuing throughout the season.

1. The market is allowed from 8 in the morning until noon. Providers need time to set up; That said, vendors will not start selling until 8 a.m. Therefore, there is no need to arrive at the market before 7:55 a.m. as we will keep the aisle clear near the vendor stalls until 8 a.m.

2. Unfortunately, there was a second incident where an attendee let his dog defecate in the market parameters and then ignored a vendor's request to clean it up, telling the vendor “you can do it.” As market manager, I have been very lenient about having pets in market areas when it is actually a violation. If this happens again, the following code will be applied.

California Health and Safety Code 114259.5 states that live animals are not permitted in certified farmers markets or permitted food facilities, with the exception of service animals. Fraudulently misrepresenting service animals is a misdemeanor (California Penal Code 365.7 [a]).

Make plans to leave your animal in a safe place outside the market.

Thank you for understanding that the goal is to have an enjoyable marketplace for everyone, meaning vendors and attendees.
