World Lung Day
Invest in the future of lung health

What would you do if your doctor said you only had 18-24 months left to live?

Irisaida sought a second opinion. Originally diagnosed with uterine cancer, Irisaida was blind-sided when her doctor told her that the cancer had jumped from her uterus to her left lung. Despite a lobectomy and aggressive chemotherapy treatment, the cancer continued to spread to her upper lobe. That’s when she heard the news that no one should have to hear.

“The doctors offered a last resort,” she says, “a new immunotherapy that wouldn’t cure me but could prolong my life.”

Life-prolonging treatments like immunotherapy would not be possible without research. That’s why, years after she was told she only had months to live, Irisaida is now a fierce advocate for lung health research.

Today is World Lung Day, and we’re celebrating by raising $75,000 for the Annual Research Fund to support more lifesaving technologies, treatments and cures for people living with lung disease. Help define the future of lung health by making a generous gift today.

Irisaida told her story while in D.C. for the Lung Association’s 2023 LUNG FORCE Advocacy Day, where she urged lawmakers to commit to strong funding for lifesaving medical research. For her, working with the Lung Association to fight for research funding is a way of giving back to her fellow cancer survivors.

"The American Lung Association has been a place of hope and support for me."

With over 120 years of helping advance innovative lung health  research, the Lung Association is leading the charge for a world without lung disease. But to achieve such a huge goal, we must ensure research gets the support it needs today. That’s why we’re asking this community to show up and help raise $75,000 for the Annual Research Fund by midnight on Sep 25th.

Make a generous gift to the Lung Association before the clock strikes midnight on World Lung Day.
