The Misti Washington Gourd and Basket Guild presents a basket and gourd art show in the lighted case in the Cardiff Library.

Twelve talented members of the Misti Washington Gourd and Basket Guild — Cookie Hanson, Natalie Kuhlman, Kiana Jannesari, Sue Kamin, Carol E Lang, Ron Wilson, Alison Hiers, Becky Gonzales, Willie Ziegler, Peggy Blessing, Debra Zimmerman and Grace Swanson have their artwork in the Cardiff Library from August 1 to October 30, 2024. Most of the 22 artworks displayed are offered for sale however a few are not.

Members of MWGBG represent all levels of interest in basket and gourd making — beginners, professionals, hobbyists and collectors. The members all share a common fascination for handmade vessels and sculptural objects — whether ornamental or utilitarian — and for the natural and manufactured fibers used in their construction.

The Misti Washington Gourd and Basket Guild meets on the first Sunday of each month at the San Dieguito Heritage Museum at the Heritage Ranch, 450 Quail Gardens Dr, Encinitas, and offers a variety of events and weaving support to its members at all levels. Guests are welcome.

The Cardiff Library is located at 2081 Newcastle Ave, Cardiff, CA 92007. (760) 753-4027. Visitors can view the exhibit during the library’s operating hours, which are Tuesday noon to 7pm, Wednesday and Thursday 10am to 6pm, Friday and Saturday 10am to 5pm. Closed Sunday and Monday.

The exhibit is free and open to the public, and all pieces (except those marked “NFS”) are available for purchase by contacting the artists directly, whose contact information is listed on a small card next to each piece.
