Come out and enjoy a guided hike with staff at Smallwood State Park. We’ll saunter along the General's Walk Trail on the weekend before New Year's Day for our ""(Almost) First Day Hike""! Join us at 10:00 AM at the Sweden Point Discovery Center where we will begin our walk down to the Mattawoman Creek footbridge. Enjoy views of marsh land, historic area, General Smallwood's Retreat House, and wooded areas that span just over 2 miles.

This natural surface trail has exposed roots, and some steep inclines, so please come prepared with appropriate footwear and bring water. Entrance fee is per vehicle at $3/MD resident and $5/out of state resident. Leashed pets are welcome, not stroller/ wheelchair accessible. Portable restrooms are located near the boat launch area and at the Discovery Center. Pre-registration is preferred. Please fill out our Pre-Registration form.
