New paintings by Siddharth Choudhary

Anderson Yezerski Gallery is pleased to announce Along The Way, a group of new paintings by Siddharth Choudhary. This is Choudhary’s second exhibition with the gallery. Light refreshments will be served.

In this new body of work Siddharth Choudhary takes the foundation of his digital practice and transforms it into stunning, playful and smart paintings. Each large-scale work is filled with the personality of somewhat ambiguous figures. Having lived in numerous cities around the world, Choudhary is revisiting memories of people he’s met along the way. While these works are nothing short of painterly, preliminary digital drawings are the bedrock of this series. When looking closely at the lush application of paint the viewer may find evidence of digital artifacts strewn about, despite the piece itself being far from digital. The thought to include a mishap created by a computer in such a physically involved painting serves as a subtle signal to consider process and intention. Color is an important element in this work; these characters exude attitude through their carefully adjusted palettes. Subtle shifts in familiar colors bring another element of joy to the act of looking.

Choudhary was born and raised in India. He has a bachelor’s degree in science from University of Delhi and a master’s degree in visual arts from Academy of Visual Arts, Hong Kong Baptist University (2015). Choudhary has exhibited in the United States, Hong Kong, China, Switzerland and in India. Choudhary was a resident at Vermont Studio Centre, he received the Presidential Scholarship at Anderson Ranch Arts Centre, Hong Kong's Pure Art Foundation grant for the visual arts and Art Oxygen’s grant for public arts in Mumbai, India. He was the 1st runner up at the 2014 Hong Kong Human Rights Arts Prize. Choudhary lives and works outside of Boston, MA.
