Wood County Schools will create a challenging and diverse educational environment in which all students will master the essential curriculum and beyond to become successful members of society.
Goals:
- To assure that all students master an academically challenging curriculum.
- To employ and support personnel to effectively instruct, engage, manage and evaluate student learning.
- To assure a positive learning environment and create community pride by providing clean, safe and well maintained facilities and grounds.
- To assure that all schools have effective leadership, culture and organizational practices that result in all students mastering the essential curriculum and beyond.
- To provide access to appropriate technology resources in order to increase student achievement and foster development of 21st century learning skills.

Located on the Ohio River, this community enjoys moderate climate and a year long calendar of recreational and cultural events. Wood County is a great place to live and a great place to go to school. Wood County Schools' proud heritage of academic excellence is the result of community support. Approval of excess levies (a tradition since 1945), support of bond issues (current $60 million high school construction and renovation), academic and athletic scholarship programs, booster organizations, involvement by the PTA, Partners in Education and the Chamber of Commerce of the Mid-Ohio Valley Education and Business Foundation illustrate the community's commitment to education. Transition is provided to a state of the art technical preparation curriculum in conjunction with West Virginia University at Parkersburg.
