Vision and Core Values

We are a church characterized by:

Worship
We worship the living God with passion. Worshiping God, both personally and corporately, is our highest purpose. Our celebrations are intended to be the most intellectually, aesthetically and spiritually uplifting experiences in our lives. The living God has gathered us together to encounter Him, and be transformed by Him. We use the full range of worship arts to honor Christ in the power of the Spirit.

Community
We lovingly build a community in which there are no strangers. Contrary to our individualistic culture, Jesus is calling us into community. The quality of our life together validates the Gospel proclamation. We reflect the wonderful ethnic diversity of people who live in and around Northern Virginia. We are young and old, rich and poor, single and married. We practice hospitality. We provide opportunities for people to interact and care for one another in informal settings. Everyone benefits from participation in a small group, especially a Home Church. Our pastoral care ministries demonstrate Christ's love for all persons.

Mission
We are witnesses and missionaries at home and abroad. We delight in winning and making new disciples of Christ. The Great Commission energizes us. We are trained to share our story in ways that build bridges instead of walls. We are ready and able to share the good news of God's love and salvation. We have a special concern for and responsibility to the poor and oppressed. We participate in short-term mission trips, and we raise up vocational missionaries who serve locally and overseas. We build long-term partnerships with our missionary associates around the world. We generously give of our resources and our very lives.

Evangelism
We joyfully invite people into relationship with Jesus Christ. Christ works in us to transform individuals and nations. Every one of our neighbors matters to God, and therefore matters to us. We reach out to welcome and serve men, women, and children who have never known the love of Jesus, and those without Christian community. We seek to draw all people to a deep and saving knowledge of Christ through our relationships of love and service. We strive for the reformation of Anglicanism at all levels, standing firmly on Biblical truth and 2000 years of orthodox theology and practice. We labor to influence our own and other societies to reflect that which s just, true, and good.

Discipleship
We encourage one another to become mature disciples of Jesus Christ. We participate in rigorous processes of spiritual growth. We live in an environment often at odds with our relationship to God and sound family life. Therefore, we provide education for everyone to grow in Biblical knowledge and the fundamentals of Christian living. We emphasize the needs of children, teenagers and young adults, and we provide creative programs to help them grow as disciples.

Growth
We willingly pledge our resources to provide the means for the growth to which God is calling us. We have an intentional policy of numerical growth. Our commitment to remain in Fairfax City means that part of that growth will be accomplished through a deliberate strategy of planting new local congregations. Our commitment to remain in Fairfax City means that part of our growth will be accomplished through a deliberate strategy of planting new congregations. Furthermore, we commit to maintain, improve, and expand our physical facilities motivated by three priorities: (1) our desire to glorify God, (2) our recognition of ministry needs, and (3) our obligation to be good stewards, to preserve and bequeath that which we have been given. We are a community of faith preparing the way for the next generation of disciples for Christ.

Core Values

We treasure the sincere and passionate worship of the one, true, living God, uniquely revealed in Jesus Christ. Our worship is a joyful glorification of our Lord in the power of the Holy Spirit. It is celebratory, liturgical, and uses both contemporary and traditional Anglican forms.

We prize personal faith in Jesus Christ, and rejoice in lives transformed by the power of His Good News. In Jesus, we find sin is overcome, repentance is commanded, trust in His sacrificial death is rewarded, and hope is offered to all in abundance.

We value the fruit, the gifts and the supernatural power of the Holy Spirit. We are called to equip every member of the Body of Christ for fruitful and fulfilling service using their gifts.  We rejoice in His life-giving presence, His comforting touch, and His power for ministry.

We honor the Bible as the authoritative word of God, supremely trustworthy in all that it affirms.

We invite everyone to the discipleship of joyful obedience to Jesus Christ.

We believe that prayer undergirds our faith. Through prayer we experience an intimate relationship with God, and learn how to live in the power of the Holy Spirit. Prayer focuses us on the will of God, joins us to the heart of God, and releases the miracle working power of God in and through us.

We uphold the doctrinal foundations of our church in the Holy Scriptures, as exemplified by the historic Creeds and the Thirty-Nine Articles of Religion. We acknowledge our call to offer orthodox leadership and renewal to the Convocation of Anglicans in North America (CANA), and the Anglican Communion worldwide.

We value the family, and uphold the Biblical concept of the Christian household as a foundation of every healthy society. We encourage Christian marriage and Christ-centered parenting, while supporting the distinctive needs of the single parent and the single adult. We offer discipleship programs for all ages, including children and youth. We value every individual. Each person matters equally to God, and so matters equally to us. Men and women are equally welcome in all aspects of our life together. We joyfully include children in all we do. We affirm the dignity of those handicapped in various ways, and value their participation in our common life.

We honor caring, grace-filled community life, where the love of Christ is abundantly offered and freely received; where lives are healed and renewed; and where compassionate service is normative for every believer. We welcome ethnic diversity that reflects the rich variety of peoples in our community.

We uphold faith-filled stewardship and sacrificial living.  We give back generously our God-given time, money, and skills to build His Church.

We value excellence in our worship, our facilities, and all our ministries. We seek to honor Christ in all we do.

We honor church planting. We recognize the unique opportunities of new congregations. We affirm both our heritage and our special responsibility to this missionary vocation. Our growing region needs new churches.

We prize outreach from our worshiping community to the whole world. We seek to reach the unchurched both far and near with the Good News of salvation. Evangelism is our lifestyle. We challenge all our members to serve in local or international mission, from short-term involvement to career cross-cultural commitment.

We desire God's will above all else in the living out of our communal life in faith knowing that God is faithful to clearly lead those fervently committed to follow him.
