Sudbury Valley Trustees

18 Wolbach Road

It all started with a handful of men and women in Wayland and surrounding towns who sensed that things were not going to stay the way they were in 1953. One of those people was 27-year-old Allen Morgan, recognized as one of Massachusetts’ premier birders, an excellent public speaker, advocate for nature and an unrepentant optimist. With a belief in big ideas, he gathered up a group of friends and founded Sudbury Valley Trustees.

SVT celebrated our 50th anniversary year, which culminated in our 50th annual meeting and birthday party on May 22, 2005 at Wolbach Farm in Sudbury.

George Lewis, the surviving founder of this original group, wrote 50 Years of Conservation in celebration of our golden anniversary, and is still active in SVT. George was recently awarded the River Steward Award from the River Stewardship Council and League of Women Voters
