Saint Paul's Community United Methodist Church

40 School Street

History

St. Paul's was dedicated in 1867, the first Protestant Church on the southern Mendocino Coast. Rev. David H. Haskin, the founding Pastor, and Wm. J. Mackey, Presiding Elder, welcomed a class of 24 probationers.

The great earthquake and fire of 1906 demolished a good part of Point Arena and all of St. Paul's. All that was salvaged from the fire were the pump organ and two chairs, the bell and the Bible Pulpit. In 1907, the church was rebuilt next door to its original site on the corner.
