The Frederick County Family YMCA is a nonprofit charitable organization founded in 1858. The YMCA is an association of persons of all ages, ethnic groups, and religious affiliations united in a common effort to put Judeo-Christian principles into practice through programs that promote healthy lifestyles, strengthen family, develop leadership in youth, build international understanding and assist in community development.

In 2004 the YMCA touched the lives of thousands of Frederick County residents, provided services to over 10,000 members, 25,280 program participants and a number of community agencies. In 2004 the Frederick County Family YMCA awarded approximately $700,000 worth of financial assistance to the community.
