Delgado Community College - City Park Campus

615 City Park Avenue
504-671-5012

The City Park Campus is centrally located on City Park Avenue and serves the urban area of the city of New Orleans. This campus is the original site of Delgado Community College and remains the largest campus with more than 60 academic programs. Prior to Hurricane Katrina (August 29, 2005) the City Park Campus served approximately 10,000 students. Flooding and wind from the hurricane damaged approximately 70% of the facilities on the campus. Lack of facilities, displaced faculty, staff and students, as well as the devastation suffered throughout the greater New Orleans community forced the college to suspend the fall 2005 semester at this and all other locations.

In January 2006 the College re-opened at all locations (with the exception of the Gretna/West Jefferson One Stop) with limited capabilities. Eight of the City Park Campus' 25 buildings are now accommodating returning students and the college's physical plant operations. Delgado continues its recovery and rebuilding efforts, focusing on enhancing services and program offerings for its constituents and assisting with the community's return to vibrancy.

The Moss Memorial Library Building, which pre-Katrina held more than 123,000 volumes and over 898 periodicals as well as a special collection of books on Louisiana history, was one of the most heavily damaged by flooding from Hurricane Katrina. Delgado is currently using inter-library online access to provide our students with access to resources and reference materials.
