Countryside School serves the preschool through 5th grade communities of Barrington, Barrington Hills, Fox River Grove, and Lake Barrington.

Countryside School was organized in 1942 with the consolidation of seven one-room schools under the Illinois Consolidated Schools Act. The consolidation of country schools resulted in one teacher per two grades - a considerable improvement over one teacher for all eight grades. A new building was constructed in 1950 accommodating eight grades of the district. The current Countryside School was built in 2001-2002 and opened its doors to students in September 2002.
