Daymé Arocena
Saturday, March 9, 8pm

Be blown away by the talents of jazz singer Daymé Arocena, who brings her "propulsive Cuban folk-pop" (The Guardian) to the Hunter Center next weekend. Frequently compared to figures such as Celia Cruz, Aretha Franklin, La Lupe, and Ella Fitzgerald, Arocena draws inspiration from the intertwining musical legacies of her native Cuba. As she recently told The New York Times, "You have to flow with the music you want to make.” Catch the results live on stage right here at MASS MoCA.

The culmination of Brooke's Ten Transcendental Etudes is an evening-length piece for 6 performers that melds sampling, sound design, and physical theater, and looks at how songs dominate how we talk about each other.
