On Saturday, October 29, 2022, Randolph and Avon residents may drop off up to 10 gallons, FREE OF CHARGE, hazardous wastes such as oil-based paint, thinner, linseed oil, adhesives, used motor oil, antifreeze, cleaning chemicals, pool chemicals, batteries, pesticides, medical waste, sharps, thermometers, light bulbs and fertilizers from 9:00 AM to 12:00 Noon at Randolph High School located at 70 Memorial Parkway, Randolph.  

On the day of the event, Randolph and Avon residents must have a form of identification, such as a driver’s license or a utility bill to register on site that day to drop off waste.  You will also be asked to stay in your vehicle.  As you approach the unloading zone, you will be instructed to “pop open your trunk” so that your registration process can be completed.  A trained technician in protective clothing will then unload your vehicle, so it is a true drive through service.  It is recommended that the unwanted materials are brought to the event in original containers.  If there are multiple small items, (such as aerosol cans, or quart size paint cans) then it is recommended that you pack them in a cardboard box or similar container for the technicians to take. The box will not be returned.   Waiting for a container to be returned or unpacking a trunk of a car with multiple small items can increase the offloading time.  

Randolph has hired a professional contractor, Clean Venture Inc., to manage, collect, transport, dispose or recycle the materials dropped off.  The Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection, (DEP) enforces state regulations (MGL 310. CMR 30.000 Hazardous Waste § 30.93(4) Management to protect human health and the environment.

In addition to the Paint Related material, automotive fluids, cleaners and pesticides, you can also drop off unwanted medications, CRT’s (televisions, computer monitors up to 60 inches, $20.00 and over 60 inches, $50.00) and Tires, (car tires, $8.00 each and truck tires, $12.00 each).  You may also drop off documents for onsite shredding so that you may securely dispose of sensitive documents to protect your privacy.

Items that are not collected include Latex Paint, smoke detectors, carbon monoxide detectors, fire extinguishers, flairs, and propane tanks or other related cylinders.  Dry latex paint can go in your normal rubbish and garbage curbside pick-up.
