Say hello to Darien Library's newest collection!

Darien Library is proud to announce a new and exciting collection of accessible items for people with visual, reading, and physical disabilities.

As of today, Darien Library is officially a hub for the Connecticut State Library, CT Library for Accessible Books (CTLAB).

What's the CTLAB?

The CTLAB is a network library of the Library of Congress' National Library Service (NLS) for the Blind and Print Disabled. CTLAB lends items to any Connecticut resident who is unable to read due to a visual, perceptual, reading, or physical disability.

What can I check out?

CTLAB and NLS' collections include non-fiction and fiction books, magazines, and music for all ages in a variety of world languages in braille and audio formats.

How do I get started?

Apply at Darien Library!

We have a selection of adult fiction, non-fiction, young adult, and children's titles available for checkout in cartridges as a demo of the service. Pick up an application at our display on Main Street by the Large Print books.

After your application is approved, CTLAB will mail materials directly to you as the primary method of delivery. You can also opt to have them sent to and from Darien Library.

You can also access materials digitally with the Braille and Audio Reading Download (BARD) service and download them via a computer or the BARD mobile app.
