The Water Department and Supervisor John Davis at the Reverse Osmosis Plant teamed up to pour a new slab to house the new Acid Feed System that will be installed in the near future. The Acid System performs multiple functions including minimizing the amount of wastewater that is produced and sent to the evaporation ponds West of the RO plant as a result of the filtering system.

Department Reports

The Street Department as reported by Supervisor Ronnie Kolacek took advantage of the bad weather by maintaining and repairing several vehicles and equipment in Street Department’s vehicle fleet. After it began to warm up the department continued with filling potholes and repairing cut streets from water projects. The SD changed the signage at the RV park to reflect the increase of $17.00 to $25.00 for overnight campers and completed taking down some forgotten Christmas lights downtown.

City of Seymour Police Department Chief Griffin reported the department performed general traffic patrol, responded to two domestic dispute calls, and responded to a complaint of harassment.

The Water Department supervisor Chase Hoyt reported they assisted the pouring of a small concrete slab at the Reverse Osmosis Plant for the Acid Feed System, began the process of replacing an outdated motor on a pump trailer, responded to numerous line detections, and work request. The Water Department set a new meter can, rodded a sewer line, and reconnected numerous old meters.

Over the course of the last week, the Reverse Osmosis Plant under the supervision of John Davis produced 3.2 million gallons of treated water that was distributed to the City of Seymour and Baylor County Special Utility District. During the week plant operators monitored the chlorine levels at points throughout the distribution system, monitored the amount of wastewater discharged from the plant, completed the Water Use Survey and Water Loss Audit for the Texas Water Development Board, compiled information to update the Water Conservation Plan, changed out the pre-filters on one of the primary RO trains, and poured a slab of concrete to serve as the foundation for the new sulfuric acid chemical feed system.

The City of Seymour Electric Department under the supervision of Anthony Arjes had a very busy and productive week. The Electric Department fixed a cross arm brace on East Ingram, pulled fuses on a capacitor bank on Ingram and Brazos, replaced a blown transformer fuse on West Custer created by a squirrel, and disconnected and then reconnected service for a resident on South Stratton for a meter loop and breaker box replacement. The Electric Department also trimmed a tree on West Custer that was infringing into a primary line, hung a service line and installed a meter for a billboard at the intersection of California Street and Main Street. A fuse was replaced on a transformer on West Idaho, on West Nevada, troubleshot a lighting issue at the airport, disconnected service for a resident on North Stratton and a yard light on North Murrie.
