Celebrating 77 Years of Persimmon Traditions

The Mitchell Persimmon Festival began in 1947 when Mitchell native, George Bishop dreamed of creating an event to bring together the small community.

9am - 5pm: Art and Quilt Exhibit
Mitchell Community Public Library
Examine fine displays of paintings and amazing quilts! Open Mon, Tues, and Thurs 9am - 8pm | Wed, Fri 9am - 5pm | Sat 9am - 2pm

11am - 2pm: Puddin Pan
Jacob Finger Methodist Church -139 N. 8th St.
Stop by for daily lunch specials and grab a delicious piece of persimmon pudding!

11am - 10pm: Non-Profit Food Booths
Main Street
Support Phi Beta Psi Sorority and Mitchell Wesleyan Church Food Booths all week of the Persimmon Festival

12pm - 8pm: Art, Craft, Photography
American Legion Post 250 - 404 Sheeks Drive

1pm - 7pm: Grissom Home Tour
Gus Grissom Boyhood Home - 715 W. Grissom Ave.
Stop by the home that astronaut, Virgil I. "Gus" Grissom grew up in and take a FREE tour!

1pm: Senior Citizen Day
Main Street Stage
Right around lunch time, we will have some great music playing on the stage! Sponsored by Belle's Place of Bedford.

4:30pm: Main Street Nightly Food Tent
Behind Main Street Stage
Tonight the St. Mary's Catholic Church will be serving an Italian Dinner

5pm - 9pm: Brats on the Deck
American Legion Post 250 - 404 Sheeks Drive
A yearly tradition is Brats on the Deck at the American Legion. Stop by anytime for dinner!

5pm - 10pm: Non-Profit Food Booths
Main Street
Stop by the Varsity Club food booth for dinner and end your night with some delicious Persimmon Ice Cream from the Kiwanis booth!

5pm: Carnival Rides
Main Street
Load the kids in the car and head over to the Persimmon Festival! Buy your tickets or wristband and get in line for your favorite carnival ride!

6pm - 9pm: Vendor Tent
Behind Main Street Stage
Don't forget to stroll through the vendor tent and shop for some goodies! Call (812) 797-1172 to learn more

6pm: The Breeding Sisters
Main Street Stage
Listen to Amy and Hannah Breeding sing and play various instruments to spread the power of God's message through song!

7pm - 9pm: Klrby Stailey
Main Street Stage
Don't miss Kirby Stailey, Christian Country singer/songwriter and regional finalist of the hit TV show 'The Voice," performing gospel music!
